Tip of the Week: Tech Hours

NSEA Tip of the Week
January 24-28, 2011
Your Tech PD Hours

Are you concerned about getting your 15 technology integration hours needed by June? Try out Atomic Learning! It’s a great training resource that allows you to decide your professional development and at a time and on a day that works for you. Just remember that this must be done outside of the workday as it tracks the day and time you view the videos. It should also align with the tech goal setting you discussed with your building principal at the start of the year.

You can view and print your history on the program and submit it for tech hours. With all of the videos, it takes time to try it out on your own so be sure to document the video viewing and then the lesson planning or independent learning. For Example- 30min of iPhoto videos and 30min of trying it out and planning a lesson to use it with students. You should also include any after the lesson planning time or reflection around what you learned and how you will use this knowledge in the future. Be sure to go to the Employees Home Page on the district website and click on Tech PD Forms and Documents for more information about tech hours. Still confused or have questions call the NSEA office at (425) 486-7101 x110 (Tim) or x111 (Lydia).

It might be helpful to first view the How-To video on the district podcast page called Insite. To get there:
• go to http://www.nsd.org/insite
• click on the category “web tools”
• then locate “[how-to] AtomicLearning”

The Atomic Learning log in page is located at https://www.atomiclearning.com/login/northshoresd

Remember, you can narrow your search for tutorials specific to Mac Applications.
